What we collect ourselves
We — the developers of The metronome gnome — do not operate any servers, accounts system, or analytics pipeline. We do not ourselves collect:
- Your name, email address, or any contact information
- Your BPM history, practice sessions, or app preferences (they live only on your device)
- Microphone or audio input (the app does not record audio)
- Location, contacts, photos, or any other on-device data
What is stored locally
Your last-used BPM, mode, and auto-increment settings are saved in the iOS sandbox of the app using MMKV, a fast local key/value store. This data never leaves your device. If you delete the app, the data is deleted with it.
Third-party services
The metronome gnome integrates the following third-party services to support free distribution of the app. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
- Google AdMob — serves advertising. AdMob may collect identifiers such as your IP address and the iOS Advertising Identifier (IDFA) where permitted by your device settings. You can review and limit this via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on iOS. See the AdMob privacy policy.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app purchases (a one-time lifetime unlock). RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous identifier and Apple's purchase receipt to validate your entitlement. See the RevenueCat privacy policy.
System permissions
The metronome gnome requires no permissions beyond the implicit ability to play audio. It does not request access to your microphone, camera, location, contacts, photos, notifications, or any other sensitive system feature. iOS may separately prompt you about ad tracking; you can decline.
Children's privacy
The metronome gnome is intended for general audiences. The third-party ad SDK is configured to comply with applicable rules around advertising to children. We do not knowingly collect any data ourselves.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page whenever a change is made to how the app or its integrated services handle your data, and note the change in the app's release notes.
