Common questions

Where is my match data stored?

Locally on your device, encrypted with iOS Keychain. Uninstalling the app deletes all match history.

How do I back up my data?

Open the About screen and tap Export backup. This creates a complete JSON snapshot of all your pools, brackets, team matches and roster, and opens the iOS share sheet so you can save it to Files, AirDrop it to another device, email it to yourself, etc.

The app also keeps automatic snapshots — the last 5 are listed on the same About screen under Auto-saves. Tap Restore next to any entry to roll back to that point (you'll be asked to confirm before anything changes).

How do I restore from a backup file?

Open the About screen and tap Import backup. Select the .json backup file from Files or any other location. A confirmation dialog appears before any data is replaced.

What is Referee mode?

Referee mode is a full-screen overlay for tracking a single bout. Tap the 🤺 button below the fencer list to open it. You can:

Track scores — tap either side to add a touch, long-press to remove one.
Run a match timer — choose a 1:00 or 3:00 preset and tap anywhere on the timer to start or stop it. The screen turns amber at 30 s and red when expired.
Optional passivity timer — a 60-second side timer that resets automatically when a touch is scored.
Card management — assign yellow, red, or black cards. A red card automatically awards a touch to the opponent; a second yellow auto-converts to red.

None of these scores are written back to the pool sheet — Referee mode is a standalone per-bout tool.

What is iCloud backup and how does it work?

The fencer roster ("My Club") can optionally be synced to your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. When enabled:

Your roster is stored in your personal iCloud private database — the developer cannot access it.
It syncs automatically across devices signed into the same Apple ID.
It restores automatically on a fresh install or after a device wipe.

iCloud backup is opt-in and off by default if iCloud is unavailable. You can toggle it from the ☁️ pill on the Roster screen. Only the roster is synced — pools, brackets and team matches stay local only.

How do I change the app language?

Open the drawer menu and pick your language. Aramis ships with English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish and Hungarian.

Can I manage multiple competition groups?

Yes — use the drawer to create and switch between independent groups.

What is Aramis Premium and what does it cost?

Aramis is free to install and use. The Free plan supports up to 2 pool sheets. Aramis Premium unlocks the full feature set: up to 5 pool sheets, the Direct Elimination tableau, and Team Matches with the official 9-bout relay order. Premium is offered as:

Yearly subscription — $19.99 / year, auto-renewing.
Lifetime — $39.99, one-time purchase, never expires.

You can subscribe or purchase from the Upgrade screen inside the app, or from the prompt that appears when you try to use a premium feature on the Free plan.

Will I be charged automatically before I upgrade?

No. The Free plan never charges. You will only be billed if you explicitly tap "Yearly subscription" or "Lifetime" and confirm the App Store purchase sheet.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Open iOS Settings → tap your Apple ID at the top → Subscriptions → Aramis Scoresheet → Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You can also reach the management page via the "Manage subscription" link on the Upgrade screen inside the app.

How do I restore my purchase on a new device?

Tap "Restore purchase" on the Upgrade screen. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that originally made the purchase.

Refunds

All purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests must go through reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not have access to your payment information and cannot issue refunds directly.

This is the standard Apple end-user licence agreement, plus the points Apple requires us to surface for auto-renewing subscriptions.

1. License

By installing Aramis Scoresheet ("the App") you are granted a non-transferable licence to use the App on any Apple-branded products that you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes).

2. Subscription terms (Yearly)

Title: Aramis Premium — Yearly.
Length: 1 year, auto-renewing.
Price: $19.99 / year (shown on the Upgrade screen in your local currency before you confirm).
Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings after purchase.

3. One-time Lifetime purchase

The "Lifetime" product (aramis_lifetime) is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase at $39.99 that permanently unlocks Aramis Premium on every Apple device tied to your Apple ID. No recurring charge applies.

4. Privacy

Your use of the App is governed by our Privacy Policy.

5. Disclaimer

The App is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law the developer is not liable for any indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.

6. Governing law

This agreement is governed by the laws of Hungary, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
